Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum can keep your floors tidy enough to reduce the frequency of manual hoovering. Pick a robot vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, can clean stairs and corners, and that has an enormous bin that will need to be cleaned out every now and then.
There are models that clean and charge on their own This feature could be beneficial for those with pets or kids. Many of the best performers in our tests have good obstacles to avoid.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is an excellent option for those looking for a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the robot's dustbin once it gets full.
Both robots are adept at cleaning up surface debris from hard floors and carpets, and they're very adept at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test. It can get stuck on power cords or socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces like hardwood and rug.
iRobot suggests cleaning up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might encounter. Also, keep the filters and dust bin clear to avoid getting blocked. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is empty it goes back to its docking station and automatically empties its dirt into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning the area where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use, and it takes around three hours to fully recharge.
2. Roomba by iRobot
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in iRobot's flagship line, and it has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. -- the most important feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ can better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can direct your robot using the app or by voice.
The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin that eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.
We were also awestruck by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. After connecting we were able to give the i7+ voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." robot vacuum cleaner provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered with a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy that can provide power without fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases cleaner air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and pick up large particles or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes to match the task being performed. It is able to swiftly change between handheld and floor vacuum and vice versa.
The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours and offers easy access to two attachments as well as the Wand clip. This is a huge improvement over the older Dysons, which take a long time to charge and are a pain to store.
The V10's main drawback is its limited run time. As CR's tests have shown, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is an average not an extraordinary run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. That's still enough run time to clean most of a home that's average size but not long enough to clean every area (though the second time around usually can be effective). That's not to say this model doesn't have its advantages It's lighter and more maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming efficiency is superior on carpets with a low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of the most well-known robot vacuums, the 694 is a basic model that's a good option for those who don't want to spend too much money on a robot. It's capable of sucking up all types of debris and sizes during our tests, and often passes over the same areas many times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it lacks the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. It can get stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and often runs out of power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways because it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at maneuvering itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges quicker.
The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, because it has a longer battery life, the ability to change the suction power mode by hand and has physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels more sturdy and has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on bare floors and low-pile carpet, while providing a wider array of automation features.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a well-known brand in home electronics. It's no surprise, then, that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuum s and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows to navigate and avoid obstacles.

The app provides a range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. This includes virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior modifications docking frequency settings, and many more. The app is easy to learn and use similar to other Samsung devices.
In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86% of it. It was not as successful in avoiding taller items like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than some of the other models we've tested and could be a problem for some shoppers.
The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that you can access through the app. You can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to check in on your pets or children while you're away. The dustbin and the filter can be washed for the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ also has a clean station that self-empties to keep the robot's trash bin clean and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for hard flooring. They have a wider cleaning path and a larger dustbin that holds twice as much debris than other models to keep the cleaning area free of debris for the longest period of time. They also have two side sweepers for cleaning around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense that automatically adjusts the power level according to whether it's cleaning up dirt on the surface or embedded dirt. The vacuum also comes with an app that lets you to view an interactive map, control functions, and schedules. You can also monitor the vacuum's battery status and then return it to its dock to charge at the push of the button. The app allows you to personalize the lights on top of the vacuum by using different colors, so you can easily identify the areas where it's focused or where it's got stuck.
The app also makes it easy to steer the robot manually should you need to. For example my living room rug has a darkly colored border that tends to make it difficult for other robots I've tested. However, the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border, without registering it as an incline. Also, the ability to set up a weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
